ABOUT THE ARTIST
Victoria took up studying photography later in life, but her interest in the medium grew from her late teens. Photography took on a new meaning when she was gifted her first digital camera and started studying at Melbourne Polytechnic. Since that time Victoria has developed a broad range of photographic interests including portraiture, animal, editorial, landscape and travel photography. Photography continues to give her great pleasure: it is a way she likes to expressive herself creatively.

ARTISTS STATEMENT
I live in a 1929 Cape Cod style house on top of an outer city mountain range. My home is appropriately called ‘Ardoch’, which is a Gaelic word meaning high. With the imposition of Covid movement restrictions in Melbourne, I began to shoot everyday mundane activities around my home. Whilst some are staged, others capture the beauty of common occurrences that otherwise pass unnoticed in the bustle of daily life. My series of work is influenced by Gregory Crewdson's cinematic style of photography, where typical darker tones create a moodier image.
