CHARACTER: Harley Quinn
Too many times girls are told to just sit, smile, and act like a lady. What I like about Harley Quinn is that she doesn’t need to do all those things to find her self- worth. In the DC movie Birds of Prey, she goes on a journey to accept all the craziness and madness inside of her, no longer the damsel in distress.
What I aim to do with my work with Harley Quinn is capture the complex rollercoaster of emotions that the one-dimensional cliches of the media fail to authentically portray when it comes to women. And to me, that authenticity is more powerful and important than any standard of conventional beauty.
