Siouxsie Sioux is the lead singer of the gothic rock band 'Siouxsie and the Banshees'. Siouxsie is best known for her strong booming voice and her status as an underground icon. Her band is also well regarded in the goth subculture, as it was one of the early bands that helped define what gothic rock is a genre.

I chose Siouxsie as the subject for this piece because of her strength, passion and resilience. Siouxsie and the Banshees were heavily misunderstood and misrepresented by media and outsiders because of the dark subject matter of their albums. Despite this, Siouxsie continued creating music and expressing her mind and soul through her work. I find this really admirable, and the creativity and raw passion expressed through her music inspires me to continue creating art and to not be bogged down by the judgement of others.
