ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mürüde has a passion for exploring the diverse possibilities that photography and digital
imaging allows her as an art form. Since she began her studies two years ago, her work has
received recognition with two awards: the Ron Rado Encouragement award, and first prize,
the Ron Rado Memorial Acquisitive Prize, for her beautiful image, Mürütopia.

ARTISTS STATEMENT
‘SANSIL ULKE 1974"
My 'Sansli Ulke 1974 documentary project is an exploration of my Turkish Cypriot culture, and is inspired by the stories of my parents' migration to Australia in 1974. The stories they told me of their seeking a better life, and escaping the Greek Turkish war, have never left me. My Turkish Cypriot heritage instils in me a strong sense of multicultural identity, and forms the narrative heart of my series.
