Justin de Leeuw AKA Xak is a South Australian-born artist who has worked in various towns and cities across the continent. Highly influenced by the D.I.Y. punk movement and involved in the early dance music festival scene, Justin started his career with installation performance art, large-scale lanterns and fire sculptures before moving to more permanent mediums of blacksmithing and recycled metal sculpture and then tattooing. He is now focused on public art and traditional painting .
Xak & Baba have teamed up over the past two years producing street art around Melbourne while Xak refines his skills in traditional painting and drawing.
