David Yao is interested in the interpretation of human behaviour, and specialises in oil painting and drawing.
David studied graphic design and interior design in Taiwan for 7 years. During this period, he developed interests in working with traditional media. He has chosen Melbourne Polytechnic to start this new chapter. He started from exploring his self-image as he discovered that he could not draw a self-portrait. This led to research on mirror-gazing with his focus being on the fear of our human-selves. David is also inspired by his favourite artist Alberto Giacometti’s Existentialist portraits.
In the future, David will continuously be creating his art pieces while exploring his interests on Existentialism.
