I have been studying with Melbourne Polytechnic these past two years and my personal art focus is on developing skills in comic art and commercial illustration. Growing up I’ve been inspired by artists and writers within major comic book brands such as Marvel and DC. Sequential art and visual storytelling have been my passion since I first became an artist. Comic book art is certainly the direction I would like to take as my main gig, with commercial art on the side.
My art is a blend of traditional and digital mediums, usually starting out as graphite drawings where I use lead to sculpt a scene or character out of light and shadow, before scanning the piece and bringing it onto the computer. I then digitally render and colour each piece, to bring life to the artwork, aiming for a cinematic aesthetic with a bold attitude within most of my pieces.
In the coming year I’m looking to focus on my other passion which is music, and my long-term goals are to work in the comics industry. As a graduate I’m interested in meeting other creative people to collaborate with on projects and to help inspire me into the future.
