Hi there! I’m Julia, an emerging illustrator based in Melbourne.
I have a Diploma of Illustration and have previously worked with and cared for children. My background and studies motivate me to create friendly and quirky artworks and fuel my passion for visual storytelling. My artwork aims to ignite imagination through my whimsical illustrations.
My work showcased in Meraki explores aspects of identity through my Italian heritage, including still life, botanical and children’s book illustrations alongside adventurous animal scenes. To create this body of work I have experimented with watercolour painting, digital painting and graphite.
My specialty is anthropomorphic animals, targeting an audience of children and the young at heart. My original pursuit was to depict my cultural origins and childhood memories by playfully representing Italian stereotypes and iconography.

I hope to one day illustrate children’s picture and activity books.
In the coming year or when Covid restrictions ease, I will be participating in an artist residency at the Mauser Eco House in Costa Rica.
